Hank Pirowski has been the Project Director with the Buffalo City Court since 1994. He implemented the nationally recognized Court Outreach Unit: Referral and Treatment Service (C.O.U.R.T.S. Program). He was also very instrumental in the development of the first Drug Treatment Court and Mental Health Court in Western New York as well as the first Veterans Court in the United States. Hank has also assisted Courts around the world with starting Drug Courts. Hank has received numerous awards for his public service and for his contributions in the furtherance of the Drug Court Field from the U.S. Department of Justice, New York State Bar Association as well as the National Association of Counties.

He has served as a National Faculty Member for the National Drug Court Institute, and New York State Association of Drug Treatment Court Professionals. In addition, he has over 20 years of experience in the substance abuse field.

He has touched the lives of many people, whether from Buffalo or on the other side of the world. If you were a family member, friend, peer, client or stranger, he freely gave back what was given to him.

On October 7th, 2009, Henry “Hank” Pirowski suffered a massive stroke while at home and was taken to Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo where they determined that he will need a lengthy term of rehabilitation.

Your support is important now.

Hank and his family now face multiple obstacles while trying to continue with Hank’s care. The magnitude of this care that Hank continues to receive includes, modifications to his home and necessary equipment such as lifts, a van, and ramps are needed. Your support is greatly needed and appreciated. Thank you!
